Working week March 2024

During a week in March 2024, we booked a room in the Hegelbau in Tübingen to work together on various tasks and exchange ideas: We transcribed Latin and German source material (and struggled particularly with weird abbreviations), familiarised ourselves with visual representations of the Lord’s Prayer and its art historical research, searched for further interpretations and expositions in manuscripts, while also examining the Lord’s Prayer in relation to specific topics such as late-medieval prayers for the dying and its liturgical use, as well as its everyday practical use.

We were able to present some of the results of this working week at the conference of the International Society for the Study of Medieval Theology in Utrecht (June 2024) and at the International Medieval Congress in Leeds (July 2024). Additionally, we planned our conference on interpretations of the Lord’s Prayer in 2025, for which we are kindly receiving support from the Zentrum Vormodernes Europa at the University of Tübingen, and discussed the next steps for our upcoming monograph.

This week was incredibly productive for us, so much so that we have decided to organise it every six months. The next one will take place in September 2024. We are looking forward to it!
